Quotes after the Slalom on Sonday
Quotes after the second run
Tina Maze, Slovenia, 1st place: "It paid off that I left to train for the Slalom right after the Giant Slalom yesterday. My second run wasn't perfect. In this spring snow, you need to try to ski right to the line and I wasn't close enough to the gates several times. The slalom is the most difficult of all disciplines. You need to be ski aggressively all the time and risk a lot, and that is why mistakes can easily happen. I'm always a bit nervous before slaloms. That is why my strategy for today was not to think too much and just let the ski run. I performed well this is season. You need to be mentally strong, but your physical constitution is much more important."
Wendy Holdener (Switzerland, 2nd place): "I knew before the race that I'm doing well at the moment. Still, I was a little nervous before the second run. It was a weird feeling to be the next-to-last to start. I definitely had that tingling feeling in my stomach. But I tried to go it all out. And it paid off: My best result in a World Cup had been 9th place. The fact that I finished second today has not really sunk in yet. It was a great feeling to stand on the podium today."
Mikaela Shiffrin (USA, 3rd place): "I'm happy about my podium, I'm looking at the positives. I definitely wanted to win and I tried to ski at my best, although I didn't quite do that in the second run. But I will look at my video to learn what I can do better. The slope was really well done. It's unbelievable how the surface held up. The surface felt like it was not that warm, but the actual temperature was very warm. And that shows that a lot of effort went into the preparation. Yesterday and today was really well done. Now, we'll continue with training for Lenzerheide. It's is an awesome hill and it's always exciting to have the last race. There's a battle until the end and anybody can win. Tina Maze's season is just incredible; I think she's been on a podium at every race except for maybe two. If you would ask her how she does it, her answer would probably just be: work hard."
